Dominic Sessa to Star in A24 Bourdain Biopic

Dominic Sessa, known for his breakout role in The Holdovers, has been cast as a young Anthony Bourdain in the A24 biopic Tony, focusing on Bourdain's transformative summer in Provincetown, Massachusetts in 1976. Antonio Banderas will co-star in an undisclosed role, with Matt Johnson, director of BlackBerry, at the helm and a script by Todd Bartels and Lou Howe. Production is scheduled to begin in May, with Bourdain's estate and longtime agent Kimberly Witherspoon involved as executive producer, indicating official support. The film will chronicle Bourdain’s early years before his rise as a chef, author of Kitchen Confidential, and TV host of No Reservations and Parts Unknown. The 2021 documentary Roadrunner previously portrayed Bourdain, sparking debate over its use of AI to recreate his voice. The release date and additional plot details have not yet been announced.
