Man Arrested After Theft of Kristi Noem's Purse Containing $3,000 Cash

A man in the U.S. illegally has been arrested for stealing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's Gucci purse, which contained $3,000 in cash, personal identification, and government credentials while she was dining with her family in Washington, D.C. Authorities say a second suspect, also in the country illegally, is being sought, and there is no evidence that Noem was targeted due to her role at DHS. Surveillance footage reportedly showed the suspect carefully scouting the restaurant before discreetly taking the bag and leaving. The U.S. Attorney for D.C. emphasized that, following directives to prosecute and deport individuals in the country illegally, the suspect will not be released back onto the streets.
