Mariners Place Luke Raley on Injured List Due to Oblique Strain
Seattle Mariners outfielder Luke Raley was placed on the 10-day injured list after straining his right oblique during batting practice before a game against the Los Angeles Angels. Raley, who is batting .206 this season, will be replaced on the roster by Rhylan Thomas, who has yet to make his major league debut. The severity of Raley's injury and his expected recovery timeline have not been disclosed. In a corresponding move, the Mariners designated right-hander Sauryn Lao for assignment. Thomas has shown promise in Triple-A with a .319 batting average. Raley was scratched from the lineup and underwent imaging to assess his injury.
