U.S. Coast Guard Intercepts 11 Migrants Off La Jolla Coast
The U.S. Coast Guard interdicted a 20-foot cabin cruiser carrying 11 migrants approximately 22 miles west of La Jolla early Saturday morning. The vessel was traveling without navigational lights, and the Coast Guard successfully intercepted it without the use of force. All 11 migrants, who claimed Mexican nationality, were apprehended and transferred to U.S. Border Patrol custody at Ballast Point later that afternoon. In a separate incident off southern Texas, the Coast Guard, alongside partner agencies, detained 13 Mexican fishermen engaged in illegal fishing and seized about 1,500 pounds of red snapper. The fisheries violations occurred within U.S. federal waters, and the fishermen were handed over to Homeland Security Investigations for processing. These actions underscore the Coast Guard's ongoing commitment to securing maritime borders and protecting natural resources from illegal activities.
