Ice Spice, New Cast Join 2025 SpongeBob Movie

Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation have announced that The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants will be released in U.S. theaters in December 2025. The cast includes Ice Spice, Regina Hall, George Lopez, Sherry Cola, and Arturo Castro, with Ice Spice also contributing an original song. The original voice cast—Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, Mr. Lawrence, and Mark Hamill—will reprise their roles. Directed by Derek Drymon and written by Pam Brady and Matt Lieberman, the film follows SpongeBob and his friends as they confront the ghostly Flying Dutchman. The announcement was made at the Annecy International Animation Festival, which also featured previews of other major projects. The film highlights a trend of popular musicians joining major animated movies.
