Las Vegas Sphere Opens Immersive Wizard of Oz Experience

The Las Vegas Sphere is launching an immersive experience titled 'The Wizard of Oz at Sphere,' opening on August 28, 2025. Developed in collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery, Google, and Magnopus, the experience uses advanced technologies such as a 160,000 square foot 16K resolution screen, haptic seats, environmental effects, custom scents, and AI to seamlessly integrate the original 1939 film's shots, creating a 75-minute immersive journey that transports audiences into the world of Oz. The project maintains the film's integrity without adding new scenes, instead enhancing the narrative flow with AI to tie shots together, complemented by remastered original songs playing through over 167,000 speakers. Tickets start at $104, and the venue has also unveiled a large installation outside featuring the Wicked Witch of the East’s legs and ruby slippers, adding to the spectacle. This endeavor represents Sphere Entertainment Co.'s strategic move to diversify revenue by embracing immersive entertainment, though the high ticket prices may limit accessibility for some. Sphere President Jennifer Koester emphasized that attendees will not just watch but live the movie, experiencing the tornado and other key scenes with multisensory effects.
