California Drivers Arrested After Multiple Fatal Hit-and-Run Incidents

Multiple fatal hit-and-run incidents involving suspected DUI drivers are under investigation in California. In San Marcos and Vista, Jessica Boykin, 38, was arrested for driving a Toyota RAV4 onto the Inland Rail Trail bike path for approximately four miles before fatally striking a 28-year-old pedestrian and fleeing the scene; she faces charges including felony hit-and-run, DUI, and homicide. The victim, a National City resident, was pronounced dead at the scene, and Boykin remains held without bail. Separately, a fatal hit-and-run occurred early Wednesday in San Francisco's Excelsior district where a pedestrian was struck, but no suspect or vehicle description is yet available. Additionally, in Murrieta, a suspected DUI driver was arrested after hitting and killing 44-year-old Gladys Cruz Maeda on the 215 Freeway near a construction zone; the suspect fled but was later taken into custody and faces charges including DUI gross vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run. Authorities in all cases are continuing investigations and seeking information from the public.
