Despite these discussions, the Cavill sequel did not materialize, and the DCEU has since been rebooted. David Corenswet has been cast as the new Superman in James Gunn's film, which will feature villains like Lex Luthor, Metamorpho, and The Engineer, as revealed in new character posters. This reboot marks a fresh creative direction for DC Studios. Meanwhile, Henry Cavill has moved on to other major roles in franchises such as Warhammer and Highlander. James Gunn's Superman is set for release on July 11.
