Anonymous Pizza Deliveries to Lawmakers Spark Probe
Federal authorities are investigating a surge in anonymous pizza deliveries sent to the homes of both Democratic and Republican U.S. lawmakers, as well as current and former Capitol Police officials, in what is seen as a possible intimidation tactic. The incidents have heightened concerns amid a rise in political violence, particularly after the fatal shooting of former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband. Many of the unsolicited pizza deliveries arrived during the manhunt for the alleged shooter, Vance Boelter, although some occurred beforehand, suggesting a broader pattern. Boelter's manifesto reportedly listed numerous lawmakers and public officials as potential targets. Congressional officials and law enforcement are expressing increased concern for personal safety, and investigations continue with multiple agencies involved. Authorities have withheld further details to avoid encouraging copycat incidents or compromising ongoing investigations.
