Aurora, Montgomery Traffic Stops Seize Stolen Guns, Arrest Teens

Aurora Police conducted a traffic stop in Montgomery near Route 30 and Route 31 after observing multiple traffic violations, leading to the seizure of three loaded handguns, over three grams of suspected cocaine, and ammunition. Two teenagers, aged 16 and 17, were found with handguns and charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a firearm without a valid Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) card, and were taken to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center. Two adult passengers, both documented gang members from Aurora, were also found in possession of suspected cocaine and had an active warrant, with the adults released pending further investigation. Two of the firearms were reported stolen from Texas, and none of the occupants possessed valid FOID cards or concealed carry licenses. Aurora Police Chief Matthew Thomas highlighted the danger of the situation and praised the proactive policing that safely resolved the incident. The investigation remains ongoing with potential additional charges pending further forensic results.
