Emma Raducanu Hires Nadal’s Ex-Coach Francis Roig

Emma Raducanu has hired Francis (Francisco) Roig, Rafael Nadal’s longtime former coach, on a contract through the end of 2025, following a successful post-Wimbledon trial period. Roig, renowned for his 17-year tenure with Nadal and technical expertise, is set to begin working with Raducanu immediately at the Cincinnati Open. This marks a strategic shift for Raducanu, who moves away from her prior pattern of hiring coaches with personal ties. Mark Petchey, her previous part-time coach, could not take on a full-time role due to broadcasting commitments but remains informally involved. Raducanu is targeting a return to the top-32 seeding at the US Open, counting on Roig’s experience to support her performance revival.
