Persad-Bissessar's Coalition Wins Trinidad Election

Kamla Persad-Bissessar, leading a United National Congress (UNC)-led coalition, has secured a decisive victory in Trinidad and Tobago's general elections, returning as prime minister after previously serving from 2010 to 2015. Preliminary results show the UNC coalition winning 25 to 26 seats in the 41-member parliament, while the outgoing People's National Movement (PNM) is expected to retain 10 to 13 seats, and the Tobago People’s Party captured both Tobago seats.
