Trainer James Cummings Joins Hong Kong Racing 2026

James Cummings, a Cox Plate-winning trainer and grandson of legendary Bart Cummings, has announced his move from Australia to Hong Kong to become a trainer for the 2026-27 season. After more than eight years as Godolphin Australia's private trainer, during which he secured 52 Group 1 wins, Cummings will conclude his tenure on July 31 and take a sabbatical before commencing his new role. The Hong Kong Jockey Club confirmed his appointment, marking a significant acquisition as the region experiences a transitional phase in its racing scene. Cummings expressed that the decision was not taken lightly but viewed the opportunity in Hong Kong as a unique and respected environment to further challenge and grow his career.
