AT&T expands 5G network across Central Pennsylvania

AT&T is significantly enhancing its 5G network in Central Pennsylvania, adding four new cell sites to improve wireless connectivity for residents, businesses, and emergency services. The new sites are strategically located in Gardners and Newport, enabling better coverage and capacity in these areas. AT&T's President, David Kerr, emphasized the importance of the FirstNet service, which prioritizes public safety communications during emergencies by utilizing the dedicated Band 14 spectrum. This expansion is part of AT&T's broader investment strategy, which has seen nearly $1.6 billion spent on network improvements in Pennsylvania from 2019 to 2023. Additionally, AT&T has also added new cell sites in Blair and Somerset counties to further enhance service quality. Overall, these efforts are aimed at ensuring robust wireless connectivity in response to increasing demand and public safety needs.
