Zelenskyy Holds First Call With Poland’s President-Elect Nawrocki

Nawrocki supports Ukraine's fight against Russia but opposes Ukraine's swift accession to NATO and the European Union, and he emphasized the need to address unresolved historical issues between the two countries. Both leaders view their cooperation as crucial for the security of not only their nations but Europe at large, and they plan further discussions to clarify formats of engagement that will produce tangible results. The call followed Nawrocki's narrow victory in Poland's June 1 presidential election, where he won just over 50% of the vote. Zelenskyy thanked Poland for its sustained support since the start of the war and underscored that Ukraine's defense benefits the entire continent, including Poland.
