Two Teen Shootings in Western U.S. Under Investigation

In the early hours of Sunday, two separate shootings occurred in the western U.S. In Caldwell, Idaho, a gang-related incident left one person with minor injuries; police stated the victim and suspect knew each other and there is no ongoing threat to the public. In Clovis, New Mexico, an 18-year-old man was shot in the wrist during a teen gathering at an apartment complex. Police identified 18-year-old Thomas Chavez as the suspect, who was found hiding at the scene and taken into custody by the SWAT team without incident. The injured teen was treated locally before being transferred to Texas for further care. Investigations continue in both cases, and authorities are seeking public assistance.
