Elaine Hendrix Hospitalized, Advances to DWTS Final Eight

Elaine Hendrix was rushed to a hospital and carried out on a stretcher after a rib injury caused her to “freeze” and briefly be unable to breathe during rehearsals for Dancing With the Stars' Halloween Night. Footage from her dress rehearsal of the Argentine tango with partner Alan Bersten—reportedly during a Defying Gravity rehearsal—was scored 32/40 by the judges and, combined with viewer votes, the pair advanced into the show's final eight. From a hospital bed Hendrix posted that she is sore but okay; doctors say the injury does not appear to be a fracture, cleared her to continue in the competition, and she will begin pain management, rest for a day or two, resume rehearsals Friday and hopes to return to the ballroom the following Tuesday. DWTS medical staff, producers, cohosts and fellow contestants assessed and rallied around her, and Bersten described the moment as frightening.
