17th Straits Forum Opens Xiamen with 350,000 Participants

The 17th Straits Forum was held in Xiamen, Fujian Province, focusing on expanding people-to-people bonds and deepening integrated development between Mainland China and Taiwan. The forum featured 56 activities across areas including youth, culture, economy, and women, with over 7,000 participants from Taiwan attending. Key themes included strengthening cross-Strait cooperation, with notable events such as the Straits Youth Forum promoting creative and cultural exchanges, including discussions with Taiwanese actors and filmmakers. Wang Huning emphasized upholding the one-China principle and opposing Taiwan independence, underscoring the importance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. Taiwan's former Kuomintang chairman Ma Ying-jeou highlighted the significance of communication and youth exchanges as essential for reducing misunderstandings and hostility.
