UK Councils Win Record 50+ Green Flag Awards for Parks Across Regions

The prestigious Green Flag Awards for 2025 have recognized numerous parks and green spaces across the UK for their excellence in management, safety, cleanliness, and community involvement. Walsall achieved a record 14 awards, the most in the Black Country, highlighting the dedication of its Healthy Spaces Team and local partnerships in maintaining high-quality, accessible green areas, including new play facilities funded by local initiatives. In Greater London boroughs, Bexley and Bromley saw multiple parks awarded, with additional accolades for community-managed spaces and heritage sites, reflecting ongoing volunteer and council efforts. Redbridge earned nine Green Flag Awards for the 14th consecutive year, with parks like Hainault Forest and Valentines Park also gaining national recognition for quality and community engagement. Surrey’s Waverley area was honored for 11 council-managed parks, including Farnham Park receiving special heritage accreditation for its historic features. Islington also celebrated 14 Green Flags, marking the importance of green spaces for wellbeing in urban environments and commending the vital role of community groups and volunteers in maintaining these areas.
