Xcel Energy Volunteers Serve Across Eight States During Annual Day of Service

Xcel Energy marked its 15th annual Day of Service with more than 115 employees volunteering over 700 hours across multiple community projects in Amarillo, La Crosse, and Colorado. Efforts included building homes with Habitat for Humanity, maintaining community gardens, painting and improving facilities like The Salvation Army and Urban Peak homeless youth center, and enhancing safety at Amarillo Children’s Home and Wildcat Bluff Nature Center. In Amarillo, volunteers supported families preparing to move into new homes and helped organizations addressing hunger, homelessness, addiction, and human trafficking. The partnership with Urban Peak, which serves homeless youth, has been ongoing for 15 years and included cleaning and maintaining the center to create a welcoming environment. This Day of Service honors the memory of the 9/11 victims, survivors, and first responders while demonstrating Xcel Energy’s commitment to giving back to the communities where its employees live and work. Homeowner Daina Anderson, whose Habitat for Humanity home is under construction, expressed deep gratitude for the volunteers’ support and looks forward to giving back to the community herself.
