Binghamton Man Charged Attempted Kidnapping Assault Price Chopper

Donald Beetlestone, a 37-year-old man from Binghamton, was arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping, assault, forcible touching, and endangering the welfare of a child after allegedly trying to abduct an 8-year-old girl at the Price Chopper grocery store. The girl was shopping with her mother but was briefly alone in the produce section when Beetlestone struck her with a bottle and tried to forcibly remove her from the store. A female employee and a male customer intervened, restraining Beetlestone until police arrived. The victim sustained a gash on her forehead from the assault. Authorities are continuing their investigation and have asked for anyone with additional information to contact the Binghamton Police. The community's quick response was praised by police for helping to prevent the abduction.
