Sheriff’s deputies in Kiowa County, Kansas, made an unexpected traffic stop when they pulled over 1980s pop-rock icon John Waite and his band en route to a performance at Dodge City's United Wireless Arena. Sergeant Justin Rugg, a longtime fan, expressed his excitement after the stop, describing the experience as being 'on cloud 12.' Waite, known for hits like 'Missing You' and 'When I See You Smile,' acknowledged the stop for speeding and praised Rugg as a 'good guy cop' on his official Facebook page. The Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office shared the encounter on social media, calling Waite a 'cool guy' and thanking him for taking a photo with the sergeant. Waite’s career began in the 1970s, including his time with The Babys and Bad English, and he continues to tour with several U.S. stops planned through November. The deputies wished Waite and his band a 'rockin’ time' as they continued their journey to the show.
