Josh Brolin Completes 350 Auditions Before Landing 'The Goonies' Role

Josh Brolin, known for his roles as Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and his Oscar-nominated performance in "Milk," revealed that he endured 350 auditions before landing his first movie role in the 1985 cult classic "The Goonies." Despite being the son of actor James Brolin, Josh grew up in central California away from Hollywood's glitz and had little exposure to the industry, making his journey particularly challenging. He recalled the relentless audition schedule of the past, sometimes attending three auditions a day and often seeing the same people repeatedly. Brolin humorously recounted his nervous start on "The Goonies" set, where he laughed uncontrollably during filming until Steven Spielberg reminded him that filming costs money.
