Man Dies Crashing Honda After Fleeing Traffic Stop Ellicott City
A man died in Ellicott City after fleeing an attempted traffic stop by an officer in an unmarked Howard County Police vehicle. The incident occurred near Route 29 and Rogers Avenue, where the officer attempted to stop a 2013 Honda Accord around 9:38 a.m. The driver chose to flee, but the officer did not pursue and turned off emergency equipment. Shortly after fleeing, the car crashed into a utility pole on Rogers Avenue near Faber Way, resulting in the driver's death at the scene. The area was closed for about six hours while police investigated the crash, but the reasons for the attempted stop and the driver's decision to flee remain unclear. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
