Two Central Florida Students Win Broadway Jimmy Awards Spot

Several student performing arts events are highlighting young talent across different regions. Notre Dame High School in Greenock is staging four performances of High School Musical, featuring senior students in lead roles, marking a significant school tradition interrupted only by the pandemic. Meanwhile, Derwen College in Shropshire is hosting a fundraising concert, "Remember When – A Night of Music Through the Years," to support students with special educational needs, featuring performances by its Performing Arts students and local entertainers. In Central Florida, two high school performers, Suliette Ortiz and Adam Bouchachia, have won the 11th Annual Applause Awards, earning the opportunity to compete at the prestigious Jimmy Awards in New York City, which is likened to the Tony Awards for high school theatre. They will participate in a week of coaching and rehearsals with Broadway professionals before performing at Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre. The Applause Awards have a strong history of supporting young talent and providing substantial scholarship funding across Florida.
