Louisville Plans Safety Upgrades After Fourth Truck Crash
A semi-truck crashed, caught fire, and fell off the I-65 overpass near the Kennedy Bridge in downtown Louisville on June 13, 2025. The driver escaped with minor injuries after the cab dangled from the overpass, prompting all southbound I-65 lanes to close and causing significant traffic disruptions. This marks the fourth semi-truck crash in the area since early May, intensifying safety concerns. Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg stated that the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will implement safety improvements, including an epoxy surface treatment and new road markings. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and officials are urging caution in the area. Cleanup and road closure are expected to last four to eight hours as crews clear the scene.
