Mild Halloween Weekend, Frost in Midwest, 90s Southwest
Across much of the U.S., Halloween weekend will be largely dry and mild, with many areas running above seasonal normals into early November. In Kansas, chilly, potentially frosty mornings will give way to mostly dry afternoons, with a brief push of colder air Saturday before a rapid rebound into the 60s–70s by Sunday and little rain expected next week. Southern Wisconsin turns noticeably cooler and breezy with scattered showers late Friday into Saturday and some overnight lows near or below freezing; a Monday cold front will allow temperatures to warm into the upper 50s–low 60s by early next week. New Mexico will see near‑freezing starts that moderate to milder afternoons with breezy northwest flow and a few spotty mountain showers Friday before high pressure returns for a warmer, dry start to November, while the South Plains (Lubbock) will be warm Friday with cool evenings and a windy cold front Saturday that briefly lowers temperatures before sunnier 70s return Sunday. The Desert Southwest, including the Coachella Valley, will remain under strong high pressure with clear skies, light winds and persistent heat — highs in the low‑ to mid‑90s — with only minor cooling possible late next week.
