Manteca Police Officer Ryan Castro Charged with Sexual Assaults

Officer Ryan Castro of the Manteca Police Department has been charged with multiple sex crimes, including oral copulation and digital penetration of an intoxicated person, stemming from an alleged incident that occurred in April 2024 while he was off-duty in Ripon. Following a notification from the Ripon Police Department on May 1, 2024, the Manteca Police placed Castro on paid administrative leave as an investigation was conducted. After nearly a year, the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office filed charges against him, emphasizing that 'no one is above the law.' Castro, who has been with the Manteca Police since June 2018, surrendered to the San Joaquin County Jail after the investigation concluded. He is currently being held on a $2 million bail, with a further arraignment hearing scheduled. The Manteca Police Department has stated they will not comment further on the ongoing legal and administrative processes.
