China’s Aircraft Carriers Conduct Pacific Exercises Amid Fujian Sea Trials

Korean Register (KR) and HD Hyundai Samho have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop AI-based solutions aimed at modernizing ship design and analysis. Their collaboration focuses on two core projects: creating an AI-powered optimization and structural assessment system for hull support arrangement, and developing an on-premise design verification system using generative AI that operates securely within shipyards. This initiative is part of a broader digital transformation strategy to enhance productivity and technical expertise in shipbuilding. Meanwhile, in China, the intelligent vessel Xin Hong Zhuan, equipped with six domestically developed intelligent systems enabling autonomous navigation, has embarked on a 4,000-nautical-mile voyage to test intelligent navigation in complex maritime environments. Additionally, Chinese naval capabilities have been expanding, with aircraft carrier strike groups operating further from home and testing advanced technology such as electromagnetic catapult systems, signaling increased maritime power projection near Taiwan and in the Pacific. These developments reflect significant regional advancements in maritime technology and strategic naval presence.
