Dallas Suspect Charged Capital Murder After Motel Beheading

Dallas police are investigating a brutal and highly visible killing at the Downtown Suites motel in East Dallas, where 50-year-old Chandra Nagamallaiah was fatally attacked with a machete and reportedly beheaded. The suspect, 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, who worked at the motel alongside the victim, was involved in a verbal argument before retrieving a machete and launching a violent assault, chasing Nagamallaiah as he tried to flee. The attack occurred in front of the victim's wife and son, who attempted to intervene but were pushed away by the suspect. Cobos-Martinez then took items from the victim's pockets, including a cell phone and key card, and ultimately removed Nagamallaiah's head, which he discarded in a dumpster. The suspect was apprehended nearby by police using minimal force and has been charged with capital murder. Authorities have not officially confirmed the beheading but crime scene images and affidavits strongly indicate it occurred, and the investigation remains ongoing.
