UK MP Siddiq Seeks Meeting Over Corruption Claims

Tulip Siddiq, a British MP and niece of ousted Bangladeshi prime minister Sheikh Hasina, has requested a meeting with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus during his London visit to address corruption allegations against her. Siddiq has denied all accusations of benefiting from familial ties and asserts she has no property or business interests in Bangladesh. She criticized the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for sending correspondence to incorrect addresses, failing to engage her legal team, and briefing the media about the investigation. The allegations, which include claims of improper land allocation and financial misconduct, have been described by Siddiq and her lawyers as politically motivated and baseless. Siddiq resigned from her UK ministerial post to avoid distracting her party and emphasized her commitment to her constituents. She has invited Yunus to meet at the House of Commons to discuss good governance and due process.
