ScotRail Deploys Extra Services, Staff for 210,000 Oasis Fans in Edinburgh

ScotRail and Network Rail are preparing for significant disruptions and increased passenger volumes due to Storm Floris and major events in Scotland this August. For Storm Floris, which brings strong winds and heavy rain, additional staff including chainsaw-trained personnel are on standby to clear debris, with speed restrictions possible to ensure passenger safety. Concurrently, ScotRail is enhancing services to accommodate thousands of fans attending Oasis concerts at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on August 8, 9, and 12, as well as the August Edinburgh Festivals. Extra trains, additional carriages, and late-night services will be available, with special arrangements for crowd control and ticketing at Haymarket station, the closest rail hub to Murrayfield. Officials emphasize the importance of planning journeys in advance, purchasing return tickets early, and respecting local residents during these events.
