Europe Expands Rail With New Train Networks

Europe’s rail sector is expanding rapidly, with several operators introducing new international routes and services. Eurostar plans to launch direct high-speed rail connections between London, Frankfurt, and Geneva by the early 2030s, aiming to provide a sustainable alternative to short-haul flights. A new sleeper train route is set to launch in June 2024, connecting Warsaw to Rijeka, Croatia, through five countries. Berlin-based startup Nox has proposed a Europe-wide overnight train network linking over 100 cities by 2035, featuring private cabins designed to compete with air travel. However, some industry experts are skeptical about the feasibility of Nox's large-scale rollout. These developments highlight a trend toward more sustainable and comfortable rail travel options across Europe.
