Diamondbacks' Corbin Burnes to Undergo Tommy John Surgery Ending 2025 Season

Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Corbin Burnes is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery next week, ending his 2025 season prematurely. Burnes left his recent start against the Washington Nationals due to right elbow inflammation, leading to his placement on the injured list and subsequent surgery decision. The 30-year-old, who signed a six-year, $210 million contract with Arizona this offseason, had a 2.66 ERA in 11 starts before the injury. Burnes, a 2021 National League Cy Young Award winner and four-time consecutive All-Star, previously played for the Milwaukee Brewers and Baltimore Orioles. Manager Torey Lovullo expressed support for Burnes and highlighted the strong team camaraderie that will rally around him during his recovery. The surgery is expected to sideline Burnes until late in the 2026 season at the earliest.
