TikTok Launches Expanded Safety Tools for Teens, Creators, Parents

TikTok has introduced a suite of new safety and creator tools aimed at protecting teens and improving content moderation on its platform. Enhanced parental controls within the Family Pairing feature now allow parents to receive notifications when their teens post publicly, view their privacy settings, and block specific accounts to better manage exposure to harmful content. To support creators, TikTok launched Creator Care Mode to filter offensive comments and a new Creator Inbox to manage messages efficiently. Additionally, TikTok is rolling out a user-driven misinformation policing feature called Footnotes, enabling qualified users to add context and source links to videos, complementing existing fact-checking efforts. The platform is also leveraging AI and automation extensively, with 85% of guideline-violating content detected by automated systems, and using AI to reduce human moderators' exposure to distressing material.
