WVU Creates Memorial Scholarship Honoring Late Doug Skaff Jr.

West Virginia University has established the Douglas J. Skaff Jr. Mountaineer Spirit Scholarship to honor the legacy of Doug Skaff Jr., a dedicated WVU alumnus, business leader, and former state lawmaker. The scholarship, funded by memorial gifts from family and friends, targets West Virginia resident undergraduates enrolled in the John Chambers College of Business and Economics, with preference given to students involved in the Mountaineer Maniacs or Student Government Association. Skaff was known for founding the Mountaineer Maniacs, co-founding WVUp All Night, serving as SGA president, and being voted Mr. Mountaineer, reflecting his deep passion for WVU. He earned degrees in marketing and industrial and labor relations and business management, later serving in the West Virginia House of Delegates and as president of HD Media. Skaff tragically died in a car accident in June 2025, and this scholarship ensures his commitment to WVU and West Virginia is remembered and supports future students.
