Happy Gilmore 2, set to premiere on Netflix on July 25, marks the return of Adam Sandler's iconic character nearly 29 years after the original film. The sequel explores Happy's life as a retired golfer supporting his daughter's ballet ambitions, with Julie Bowen reprising her role as Virginia Venit, hinting at possible dramatic developments in their relationship. A significant change to the film occurred following the death of Carl Weathers, who played Chubbs Peterson, a beloved character originally planned to have a major role through dream sequences and a storyline involving his son. Sandler revealed that Weathers' passing in February 2024 forced the team to extensively rewrite the script and reshape the story while honoring Chubbs' legacy through references in the movie.
