Mitchell Melton Transfers from Ohio State to Virginia Football

Mitchell Melton, a former Ohio State defensive end, has officially transferred to the University of Virginia, signing with the Cavaliers just hours after contributing to their national championship victory over Notre Dame. The 6-foot-4, 261-pound player, who missed the 2021 and 2022 seasons due to injuries, recorded 15 tackles, including 6.5 for loss and three sacks, during his time with the Buckeyes. Melton entered the transfer portal on January 5 and chose Virginia to seek a more prominent role, as he would likely remain a backup at Ohio State next season.
