Massachusetts Man Assaulted in Jail Weeks Before Murder Trial

Brian Walshe, accused of killing and dismembering his wife Ana Walshe in January 2023, was assaulted in the Norfolk County Correctional Center in Dedham shortly before his October murder trial. He was stabbed with a makeshift blunt instrument, treated at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, and then returned to the jail. Authorities subdued the attacker promptly, and the incident remains under investigation. Evidence against Walshe includes surveillance footage of him purchasing cleaning supplies believed to be used to dispose of Ana's remains, a hacksaw with a bone fragment found near his mother's home, and multiple internet searches on his son's iPad about body disposal. Walshe has pleaded not guilty to charges including first-degree murder and obstruction of justice. His wife Ana, a real estate professional, disappeared on New Year's Day 2023, with no evidence she ever left the area as Walshe alleged.
