World Hepatitis Day Observed Across India, Kashmir, Moldova with Awareness, Vaccination Drives

World Hepatitis Day 2025 was marked by various awareness and health initiatives globally, highlighting the importance of prevention, early detection, and treatment of hepatitis to combat its severe consequences such as liver failure and cancer. In Hyderabad, Gleneagles Hospital organized an awareness walk emphasizing the risks of Hepatitis B and C and promoting early screening and vaccination. India launched a nationwide campaign focusing on Hepatitis C transmission, urging safe practices and offering resources to support elimination efforts by 2030. Similarly, Kupwara District in Jammu and Kashmir conducted awareness rallies, health education sessions, screening camps, and vaccination drives to reach vulnerable populations and promote timely testing and treatment. Moldova reported nearly 3,000 viral hepatitis cases in 2024 and implemented a National Program for combating hepatitis B, C, and D, offering free antiviral treatments and emphasizing the elimination of barriers to medical services. Experts across these regions stressed the differences between hepatitis types, the modes of transmission, and the critical need for public education to reduce the disease burden worldwide.
