Israel Conducts Deadly Ground Incursion in Southern Lebanon Amid Ceasefire Violations

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has condemned Israel for intensifying air strikes and ground incursions in southern Lebanon despite a ceasefire brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump nearly a year ago. Israel maintains troops in five areas of southern Lebanon and continues near-daily air strikes, claiming to target Hezbollah, but civilians, including municipal employee Ibrahim Salameh, have been killed in Israeli raids. Salameh was killed during an Israeli military incursion into the border town of Blida, where Israeli forces stormed the municipal building. Israel asserted it targeted Hezbollah infrastructure and claimed to have killed a Hezbollah maintenance officer attempting to rebuild the group's sites. Lebanese officials, including Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, have condemned these actions as violations of Lebanon's sovereignty and the ceasefire agreement, calling for international intervention to end Israeli violations. The Lebanese army has been ordered to confront Israeli incursions to defend Lebanese territory and citizens' safety.
