Solvang Deploys Inmarsat NexusWave for Fleet Connectivity

Solvang ASA has partnered with Inmarsat Maritime to implement the NexusWave bonded connectivity service across its fleet of gas carriers, enhancing both crew welfare and operational capabilities. This service combines multiple satellite and cellular networks to provide high-speed internet, achieving download speeds of up to 340 Mbps and upload speeds of 80 Mbps, with a network availability exceeding 99.9%. The initiative addresses the increasing demand for reliable connectivity in the maritime industry, supporting cloud-based business applications and enabling crew members to maintain communication with their families. Initial testing on the fleet, particularly on the Clipper Explorer, has shown positive results with no downtime and stable video conferencing performance. Solvang representatives highlighted that this service would offer uninterrupted connectivity without unexpected costs, reflecting their commitment to modernizing maritime operations.
