Man Sentenced 18 Weeks Prison for Knife Hidden in Peterborough Plant Pot
Joshua Johnston, 26, was caught carrying a knife near Queensgate Shopping Centre in Peterborough by CCTV operators on August 18. Police searched him outside Peterborough Magistrates’ Court but found no knife; however, Johnston disclosed the location where he had hidden it. Officers recovered the knife buried in a large plant pot near the shopping centre entrance at Paten Bridge. Johnston admitted to possessing a knife in a public place and was subsequently jailed for a year and 18 weeks, which included the activation of a suspended sentence. PC Kris Mueller emphasized the seriousness of knife crime, stating there is no place for knives on the streets and affirming that authorities will continue to pursue those carrying weapons. Separately, in Rutherford, police took a man into custody after surveillance cameras recorded him hiding a large knife under football bleachers at Memorial Park, with the investigation ongoing and no further details released yet.
