Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians Captains Fined Slow Over-Rate IPL Qualifier 2

In the IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) held in Ahmedabad, both captains, Shreyas Iyer and Hardik Pandya, were fined for their teams' slow over rates. Iyer was fined ₹24 lakh as it was PBKS' second slow over-rate offense of the season, while Pandya received a ₹30 lakh fine for MI's third offense. The other team members were fined either ₹6 lakh or 25% of their match fees for PBKS, and ₹12 lakh or 50% of their match fees for MI, whichever was lesser. Despite the rain delay that extended the match duration, the fines were levied under the IPL's Code of Conduct. PBKS won the match by five wickets, with Iyer scoring an unbeaten 87 off 41 balls, leading the team to its first final since 2014 where they will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The updated IPL rules allowed a two-hour extension to complete the match due to weather interruptions, preventing suspension for Hardik Pandya despite his prior slow over rate offense.
