Two Riders Killed in Oulton Park Supersport Crash
A catastrophic 11-bike crash on the opening lap of the British Supersport Championship race at Oulton Park resulted in the deaths of Owen Jenner, a 21-year-old British racer, and Shane Richardson, a 29-year-old New Zealander and father of two. The crash, which was broadcast live, began at the first corner when a rider lost control, causing a chain reaction. Richardson died from severe chest injuries en route to hospital, while Jenner succumbed to a head injury at the scene. Tom Tunstall, 47, remains hospitalized with significant injuries, while five others sustained minor injuries and three were unharmed. The event was immediately suspended and later cancelled, and a joint investigation by race authorities, the coroner, and police is ongoing. The tragedy has deeply affected the motorsport community, with tributes for the riders and acknowledgment of personal losses faced by Richardson's family.
