Dodgers Place 15 Pitchers Including Luis Garcia On Injured List
The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed veteran reliever Luis Garcia on the 15-day injured list due to a right adductor strain, with the move retroactive to May 29. Garcia, who has a 4.50 ERA in 26 games this season, sustained the injury during a series against the Cleveland Guardians and was subsequently replaced on the roster by right-handed pitcher Noah Davis from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Garcia is among 15 Dodgers pitchers currently on the injured list, as the team continues to struggle with widespread pitching injuries including starters Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, and Roki Sasaki, and reliever Evan Phillips who is set for Tommy John surgery. Despite these setbacks, manager Dave Roberts noted potential returns from relievers Michael Kopech and Kirby Yates within the next week, offering some optimism for the bullpen. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Angels also placed right-hander Robert Stephenson on the 15-day injured list with right biceps inflammation; Stephenson had only recently returned to play after missing the entire 2024 season due to UCL repair surgery. Both teams are facing significant pitching challenges early in the 2025 MLB season, impacting their bullpen depth and overall pitching staffs.
