Texas Longhorns Volantis, Galvan Earn NCBWA Freshman All-American Honors
Texas Longhorns' freshman left-handed pitcher Dylan Volantis had a remarkable 2025 season, earning multiple Freshman All-American honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Perfect Game. Volantis posted a 4-1 record with a 1.94 ERA, 74 strikeouts, and 12 saves over 51 innings, leading the SEC in ERA, WHIP, batting average against, and saves, breaking a 22-year-old SEC freshman saves record. He appeared in a team-high 23 games and was trusted as the team's closer, contributing significantly to Texas' 44-14 record and SEC regular season championship. Volantis was also a finalist for several national awards, including the Stopper of the Year and National Pitcher of the Year. Alongside Volantis, catcher Galvan was recognized for his offensive contributions, including 15 home runs and being a finalist for the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award. Freshman utility player Rodriguez also received Freshman All-America honors, making Texas one of three programs with multiple selections on the Perfect Game Freshman All-America first team.
