Arizona State Faces Texas State in Key Week 3 Matchup
Arizona State, coming off a 24-20 loss to Mississippi State that knocked them out of the AP Top 25, is preparing to face Texas State in a Week 3 matchup. Quarterback Sam Leavitt has struggled this season, throwing for just 339 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions over two games, and will look to rebound against a Texas State defense that allows 31.5 points per game. Wide receiver Jordyn Tyson remains a key offensive threat for the Sun Devils, while the running backs have shown promise with an average of 177 rushing yards per game. Texas State, undefeated at 2-0 and coming off a historic win against UTSA, will rely on standout wide receiver Beau Sparks and redshirt freshman quarterback Brad Jackson to challenge Arizona State's defense. Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham acknowledged the team is still working on establishing its identity after last season's Big 12 championship and near College Football Playoff appearance. The game, set for September 13 in Tempe, pits the Sun Devils as 17.5-point favorites, but Texas State aims for an upset, having given Arizona State a close contest last season in a 31-28 loss.
