Apple Launches AI-Generated Tags in App Store Beta

At WWDC 25, Apple announced the introduction of AI-generated App Store Tags designed to enhance app discoverability by summarizing key features and functionalities of apps. These tags are created using Apple's large language models, which analyze app metadata, descriptions, categories, and screenshots, and are subsequently reviewed by humans to ensure accuracy before being applied. Users will see these tags alongside app categories in search results and on app pages, allowing for more precise and functional app discovery, such as identifying offline modes or AR capabilities quickly. Developers have control over the tags associated with their apps through a management page in App Store Connect, where they can approve or remove tags. Clicking on a tag will lead users to curated collections of apps with similar features, improving navigation and personalized search results within the App Store.
