Man Arrested in Kyle with Stolen Van Faces Nearly 20 Charges

Paul Anthony Candanoza, a 31-year-old man from Manor, Texas, was arrested by Kyle police early Sunday after being spotted driving a van reported stolen at gunpoint in Austin. Officers stopped Candanoza due to erratic driving, and during the encounter, he resisted arrest and assaulted officers. Candanoza was already wanted on multiple warrants, including charges for robbery, assault, and assault of a family or household member. Following his arrest, he faced nearly 20 charges including felony possession of controlled substances, tampering with evidence, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest with a vehicle, and various assaults. He is currently held in Hays County Jail on a collective bond of $227,000. The Austin Police Department remains involved and continues investigating the original armed robbery related to the stolen van.
